Common Faults and Maintenance Tips for Deep Groove Ball Bearings
In the routine maintenance of industrial equipment, the repair of deep groove ball bearings is a critical step in ensuring stable operation. As a common rotating support component, any failure in a bearing can directly lead to issues such as abnormal noise, overheating and increased vibration; in severe cases, this may result in equipment shutdown, thereby affecting production efficiency. Mastering scientific repair methods can effectively reduce the incidence of faults and extend the service life of the equipment.
Failures in deep groove ball bearings are often related to installation, lubrication, contamination and overloading. Common issues include excessive operating noise, abnormal temperature rises, rotational jamming and excessive vibration; in most cases, these can be quickly resolved through standardised maintenance. Before carrying out maintenance, the equipment must be shut down and the power disconnected to ensure operational safety, followed by an inspection of the bearing installation clearance, fit and lubrication status.
During the maintenance process, the bearing and surrounding components should first be cleaned to remove dust, oil residue and old grease. Inspect the raceways and balls for pitting, scratches or rust, and check that the cage is intact. If the bearing has minor damage, it can be adjusted during installation, relubricated and continued to be used; however, if the damage is severe, it must be replaced promptly to prevent the fault from worsening.
Correct installation and lubrication are key to reducing maintenance frequency. During installation, avoid using excessive force or hammering, and ensure concentricity and fitting accuracy; apply a moderate amount of grease and select a lubricant suitable for the operating conditions. Monitor temperature, noise and vibration regularly whilst the equipment is in operation to enable early detection and resolution of issues. This can significantly reduce sudden failures and ensure the deep groove ball bearings maintain a stable operating condition.
